What to Wear to a Pakistani Wedding: A Guest Outfit Guide

Pakistani weddings run across several days, and each function has its own dress code. Here is how to dress for each one.

Mayun and Mehndi

Think bright and playful: marigold, parrot green, fuchsia and teal. Choose lighter fabrics such as organza and chiffon, and add a luxury pret shirt with a farshi shalwar or sharara.

Barat

Barat is the most formal evening. Heavily embellished luxury formals in jewel tones, ivory and gold suit it best. Hand-embroidered dupattas and structured silhouettes photograph beautifully.

Walima

Soft, elegant shades such as powder blue, blush, sage and champagne work for walima. Choose long shirts, kaftans or lightly worked formals.

Nikkah

Keep it graceful and modest: ivory, pastel and rose tones with delicate threadwork. See our Nikkah edit.

Quick tips

  • Order 3 to 4 weeks ahead if you want tailoring or customisation.
  • Match your jewellery to the embroidery: gold with warm tones, silver with cool tones.
  • Choose comfort for long events: lined shirts, soft shalwars.
